New term and we are feeling Autumnal!

After a fantastic summer with our holiday mini farmer sessions being full of new faces and familiar friends we are back this week for the start of a new 8 week term. We love this Autumnal term! This week we headed out into the field and collected some delicious, juicy blackberries. Back in the Gruff shed we had fun squashing the berries with water and making the most gorgeous, rich, deep purple/red liquid. We each dropped in a piece of white cotton fabric and watched as it absorbed the inky liquid and changed colour, a variety of lilac, purple and burgundy squares of fabric were pegged out to dry. In the meantime there was lots to play with in the Gruff garden including our new friendly milking goat and rustic, log tractor. Come and join our Gruff mini farmers sessions, Monday and Wednesday mornings 10-11,30am…our theme is ‘apples’ next week.

Summer Fun

What a fantastic summer our Mini farmers have had! Our weekly themes have included, sticks, tractors, vegetables, hay and straw…just to name a few! We have seen chicks hatch and new goat kids arrive and watched them as they have played and grown. We’ve planted seeds and seen farmer John’s flowers and vegetables flourish despite the challenging weather and the children have learnt what happens on our farm during the summer months. It’s been great see some older familiar faces over the summer holidays and welcome new friends too.

Our new term will start in September, contact us if you would like to join in the fun!

New Term, New Life!

A new term of Gruff’s Mini Farmers has started this week with a theme of new life!

We’re happy to see so many new faces (and old friends)! As we celebrate the joys of spring and welcome lots of new faces on the farm too…

Our brilliant Boer Goats are in the middle of kidding, our curious chicks are hatching from the incubator and our tremendous tulips are blooming in the field ready to be taken home. How exciting! Our mini Messuage Farm shop is now open too, selling homegrown produce from right here on the farm.

Why not come and join in the fun too?

Gruff’s Mini Farmers

Our Mini Farmers sessions have started back this week after a short break. Come and join us for some crafts, free play and outdoor fun. Meet our animal friends and help feed the chickens.

This week is hedge week (it’s more exciting than it sounds)! Yesterday we added some hedges to our table top farmyard, found our way around the fir cone maze and even made our own little hedge to take home. It was a bitterly cold day on Monday but with the log burner lit in the Gruff Shed, warm apple juice and jammy toast, we were able to keep warm and nourished.

We are looking forward to tomorrow’s Mini Farmers session.
